Wireless (GPRS / CDMA) based M2M connectivity solutions are becoming increasingly preferred choices in comparison to traditional wired based connectivity options. This is due to fast and easy deployment of such solutions in addition to the operational efficiency of such wireless based solutions.

CMS offers the following suite of products to enable accessibility to field devices over wireless networks (GPRS / CDMA):

  • LAN2WL gateway (CS-M2M-LAN2WL): This provides LAN to wireless (GPRS / CDMA) connectivity for field devices which are having ethernet ports. The field device is connected to this gateway over a LAN port and the gateway facilitates communication from centrally located servers to poll / monitor / control the field devices (over wireless networks).
  • SER2WL gateway (CS-M2M-SER2WL): This provides seriál (RS-232 / 485) to wireless (GPRS / CDMA) connectivity for field devices which are having seriál (Rs-232/485) ports. The field device is connected to this gateway over a seriál (RS-232/485) port and the gateway facilitates communication from centrally located servers to poll / monitor / control the field devices (over wireless networks).
  • FEP M2M gateway (CS-M2M-FEP): This is generally co-located with the centralised servers. Wireless (GPRS / CDMA) service providers normally assign dynamic IP addresses to the communication end-points (i.e. LAN2WL & SER2WL gateways). To ensure transparency in communication, the FEP manages the dynamic IP addresses for each of the field devices internally and exports private static IP addresses to the central server. This translation is worked out in a totally transparent manner.

Please note:

  • This solution is totally independent of the protocol used for communication between the central server and the field device.
  • The solution also provides options for secure communication over the wireless networks using VPN-SSL based encryption.
