The is a device server that enables serial devices to be CS-DS-S4R1-232/422/485 connected onto a LAN and connect to legacy applications running on a PC anywhere else on the network. A virtual COM driver – ‘CMSSerCom’ is provided to allow any application interacting with serial devices over standard COM ports to interface with the serial devices over a TCP/IP network in a transparent manner. This eliminates the distance limitations of standard serial interfaces for the RS-485 model, only multiple devices can be connected on each of the serial ports and each port is optically isolated for protection purposes and can be individually configured for 2-W or 4-W operation (configured via CMSConfig utility).
